2020 Voter Information

Important dates to remember for Indiana voters

October 5 - last day to register to vote

October 6 - First day of absentee/in person voting
October 22 - absentee ballot request must be received
November 2 - Last day to vote in person/absentee (by noon)
November 3 - Election Day - vote in person 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
November 3 at noon - Absentee ballots must be received

Absentee voting (by mail)

You can fill out an application for an absentee ballot on the Indiana Voters website. A completed absentee ballot application must be received by October 22 at 11:59 p.m.

Completed absentee ballots must be received by noon on November 3 (Election Day).

Absentee voting/early voting (in person)

You can vote in person from October 6 through noon on Monday, November 2 on most weekdays as well as Saturdays October 24 - 31. You are required to bring a photo ID. [More info]

St. Joseph County: You can vote early at the County City Building, 227 W. Jefferson Boulevard (South Bend) or the lobby of the County Services Annex, 219 Lincolnway West (Mishawaka) from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays from October 6 through October 30 and Saturdays October 24 and 31. On Monday, November 2, you can vote from 8 a.m. to noon. [More info]

Election day voting - November 3, 2020

Polls are open in Indiana from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. If you are in line at 6 p.m. you will be allowed to vote.

Visit Indianavoters.in.gov to review your ballot and to find your polling location.

Voters can call 1-866-461-8683 (toll free) for individual assistance through Election Day. This is also the number you call if you need to notify the Election Day Response Team of any issues.

The Indiana Secretary of State wants to remind all voters:

  • You cannot bring election materials inside a polling location.

  • You cannot wear items into a polling location supporting or opposing a candidate or issue.

  • You cannot comment on another voter’s support of a candidate or issue inside of a polling location.

  • You are required to bring a photo ID. [More info]
