Census 2020

Our talented neighbor Sami Mirza helped the NWSNO make a video promoting the Census. Watch the full version below. Shorter versions that address different aspects of the Census are available to watch on our Facebook page. Thank you to Sami for doing an amazing job on these!!

It is extremely important that you and everyone you know complete your 2020 Census! The Near West Side, split between Census tracts 20 and 19, is currently reporting at 50.1% and 41.9% (compared to 2010 data) as of this writing. Those numbers are not great.

But what can you do? You start by sharing this video on your social media pages and by talking to your friends and neighbors about the Census. The Census tells the government where to allocate spending on things like infrastructure, SNAP and other food programs, healthcare and schools, to name a few. We need every person counted in the Near West Side Neighborhood so we get what what you need, what I need, and what our neighbors need.
